FORTY YEARS AGO TODAY YESTERDAY
Forty years ago today, the Voyager space probes were launched on a mission to redefine our knowledge of the solar system and what lies beyond. They each carry a golden record, engineered with a shelf life of one billion years (you read that right! one BILLION!), containing the music and sounds of earth. They were curated by none other than Carl Sagan, who fell in love during that time, and my favourite song on my album Little Sway is all about that love story - it’s the song “And Still We Move”.
Knowing that Voyager will wander the universe forever gives me a strange feeling of peace… no matter what happens on this tiny blue dot, those space crafts are still moving forward, preserving artefacts of humanity’s existence, long after we are all gone. As the BBC is saying today, “Voyager has made humanity immortal.”
The lyrics are based on an interview given to Radiolab by Carl’s widow, Ann Druyan back in 2010 (if you know the song well, you’ll hear where I took the lyrics from her story: http://www.radiolab.org/story/91520-space/).

SUMMER 2017 CHINGY JACKPOT
Having
already had a busy year, as has been customary for the St. Louis, US hip
hop star since his debut single "Right Thurr" and debut album "Jackpot"
back in 2003, 2017 seems like it could be another big year and possibly
even the biggest fans have seen so far. With a sizeable chunk of ongoing
projects in the works including a new album, "Dead Rose", one of his
most highly anticipated full length projects
for years which was announced late 2016, a new single, possibly
off the album, titled "F*ck Your Respect",
noteable upcoming live dates and appearances, and the superstar rapper's buzz reaching new levels, it looks like Chingy is
set to take his career to even greater heights in summer, 2017.

TATE STEALS THE SHOW AT LA DODGERS GAME
When
Los Angeles, US R&B singer, Maggie Gabbard announced that she'd be
changing her stage name to Tate, as well as working on some new music
with a new improved sound her fans had the rare opportunity to get a
glimpse into the depths of her growth as an artist since her last
release, "Control", released just over 8 months ago.
At the recent LA Dodgers Major League Baseball game against San Diego Padres the big, bold, exotic sound of Tate's
voice soared through the Dodger stadium bringing the crowd to
a peaceful moment in awe as they sang the national anthem, stealing the show and marking
the beginning of a new high in the highly promising independent R&B
singer's music career.

TWO OF MIAMI'S FINEST, BACK AT IT AGAIN
They
teamed up back in 2013 for the chart-topping single, "Seize The Night",
and then again on the song, "If I Would Say" with dance pop act, Mono
& Vassy in 2015, but it looks like Miami's two top exotic urban pop
music acts are not finished just yet. Honorebel recently hinted that
there may be new music in the works by the two but no specific details
were provided.
Independent
reggae artist, Honorebel's new single, "She On That" with Tory Lanez
and King Doe Boi is still in the top tiers of many charts after its
release back in June when it almost instantaneously soared into the top
20 of Beatport's EDM charts. His previous song, "Love You Long Time"
with Emmaly Brown and Lennert Wolfs is still riding high on charts as
well after the video went viral within its first week of release back in
March. Latino, dancehall, EDM and pop music sensation, Pitbull is also
riding high on the charts with his singles "Bad Man" featuring Robin Thicke, Joe Perry and Travis Barker, "Options" which features Stephen Marley, and "Green Light"
featuring Flo Rida and LunchMoney Lewis, all released earlier this year
as well so summer, 2017 seems like it could be the perfect time for the
two to collaborate and make EDM history.
Hailing
from two different backgrounds - Honorebel from Kingston, Jamaica and
Pitbull, from Cuba, both tropical regions, the two are able to deliver a
distinctive tropical sound that Miami just can't get enough of, and
which spreads like wild fire throughout the region and beyond. News of
the new collaboration will be announced as it becomes available.

FAKE NEWS THAT IS MUSIC TO ATLANTA'S EARS
No
fake news is good news, but this summer, Georgia's Electronic Dance
Music scene is being pleasantly rocked by the energetic, eclectic and
electrifying sounds of Atlanta, US underground rapper, Wiz Kid The
Weirdo's latest release, "Fake News". The new mixtape was released on
the 26th of July with very little promotion and publicity but quickly
spread through Georgia and surrounding areas and continues to do so.
The
Lithonia based artist, known for his laid-back, feel good rap style and
down to earth demeanor first took Georgia by surprise a few year ago
when he released his debut single, "Miss Molly", an infectious, upbeat
club record that is still atop many local hip hop DJ's playlists today,
and he has gone on to release several other impactful records that
remain close to the hearts of music fans in the region who are drawn to
his liberal, honest, charming and overall pleasant, feel good vibe.
Arriving several months after his October, 2016 album, "F:-)K,T", the
new music release isn't as sizeable, with just five tracks compared with
the whopping twenty in his previous release however, at a time when
music needs it the most, Fake News explores Wiz Kid's instrumental side
and promises an even more intrinsic and relaxing listening experience.
Fake News is available to stream free on Deezer and popular music streaming services.
