DREVO COOLIDGE - THE DREVOMENTARY

Discover the rap artist who is changing Mississippi's underground hip hop music scene for good.

Before the sold out Bermuda tours, gigs, the recent Sony deal for the release of his single, "Bermuda", the independently released chart-topping songs and the illustrious music career, Mississippi rapper, Coolidge was already regarded as one of the top independent hip hop contenders in his region and had already been predicted to become a force that would be reckoned with in hip hop music for years to come. A multi-talented and prolific artist, Coolidge was focused on becoming just that and continues to show the same if not a more thorough work ethic, dishing out back to back hit records, each one more highly anticipated that the last and persistently exceeding any and all expectations.

Ahead of the premiere of his latest music video, "Passport" tonight, SRLTV uncovered previously unseen footage of the rapper in his prime in 2013 with interviews, live performances and other behind the scenes footage in a short film called The Drevomentary.

Originally released in 2012, "Goodbyes" was one of the most sensational records released by San Francisco dream pop trio, The Bilinda Butchers at the time and is still being celebrated by fans even up till today for its groundbreaking and painfully satisfying production. Critics are still calling it one of the most rewarding EPs Shoegaze has ever experienced. 

Experimenting with genre-blending while skillfully incorporating dramatic and deeply moving themes, The BBS were able to create a signature sound that would become one of the most recognisable in Dream Pop and Shoegaze music for years to come, a sound which has been emulated but never duplicated ever since, and which continues to evolve gracefully with every new release.

The 5 track EP, initially released in MP3, WAV and digital formats, was first made available on CD and Vinyl via Discau, a small independent record label, but it has now been re-issued on Vinyl via The Bilinda Butchers' official website for fans who couldn't get a copy then.

Some may know him from his popular Fitness & Nutrition podcast on iTunes, Real Talk With Mr. USA, aimed at getting America back in shape, others know him for his musical talents, either way Idrise has been at his best for a while now and is ready to take on the world.

At the time of its release on the 9th of May, 2017, "At My Best", originally recorded and released by US rapper, Machine Gun Kelly under the Bad Boy; Interscope imprint was one of the hottest records out and it was hard to even imagine a cover song that would, not only compare but even take the song to a whole new level - Idrise's cover with Arizona, US folk singer, Lauren Black did just that.

The independent Los Angeles R&B singer has been one of the hottest urban artists in Frankfurt, Germany since he moved to and lived in the region close to the start of his career around 2011/2012. With hit records like "Netflix & Chill", he topped the music charts many times, not just in Germany where he topped iTunes, MTV and other charts in the R&B category, but also in Europe as a whole. Just over years after his return to the US in a bid to dominate in the international market, he's already made numerous headlines with a string of new releases that have created buzz in California and the US as a whole, including "Overtime", "Controlla" and his most recent release with another US-based Frankfurt artist, Tommy Gunz, "Privacy", and he still retains his title as one of Europe's top R&B acts. 

At My Best was also recently named MTV's Cover Of The Month in Italy.

Release date announced for Mississippi rapper, Coolidge's upcoming mixtape - July 21, 2017 on apple music, itunes, spotify

We've heard it time and time again, and even been told by our loved ones on several occasions but the importance of being one's self and staying true to one's roots can sometimes be better taught by example.

Coolidge is one of Mississippi, USA'S highly regarded underground hip hop artists who, through hard work, persistence and most importantly, originality has managed to single-handedly build a solid foundation in the music industry for what can only be described as one of the most fruitful independent music careers the region has ever seen.

After a series of hit records and mixtapes, and invaluable years honing his talent and making connections through collaborations with both popular and not so popular artists and producers in Mississippi and surrounding areas, while performing at local venues where possible, Coolidge was able to cement his name in the minds of real underground hip hop fans who have followed his every move ever since with singles like "Can I Have Your Number", "Only Speaking Y.O.L.O" and several other records that stood out for their uniqueness and organic mass appeal.

Having enjoyed immense attention underground, Coolidge released his official debut album, "Esodrevo" in 2015. It featured 7 top of the line hip hop masterpieces that struck a cause in hip hop fans far and wide and drew a lot of attention from top industry insiders and labels who have followed closely ever since. Shortly afterwards, he took his career to the next level by taking his music back to his hometown in Bermuda where he released his first internationally released record, "Bermuda" with Sony Music Bermuda. He also toured briefly in Bermuda at the time, and then returned again in May this year for another tour. 

After several chart-topping releases this year including "Rockets", "Passport" and his latest single, "Decimals", Coolidge has finally announced the release date for his hightly anticipated mixtape. The new project is due to be released on the 21st of July. The title and further details of the upcoming mixtape are due to be announced soon.

Atsuo, who has predominantly played classical music, is also branching out to include world music and a little bit of pop as well to foster his goal. His unique sound, generally featuring a liuto accompanied by a piano is sophisticated, passionate and artistic, and is a pleasure to listen to as it unravels and evolves over time.

Ma Dove Sei, one of his more popular works was originally composed by David Garrett and Frank van der Hijden for the movie, "The Devil's Violin". It has mass appeal, it's captivating and it's a complete show stopper.

Toby, the second half of the South Korean Electro Rock duo, Love X Stereo

Together, South Korea's top electronic rock duo have achieved more recognition this year along than many emerging bands ever achieve. From Seoul to London, UK, they have infused stages and venues with passion, love and memorable moments, and released some of the top musical works of art by independent bands in 2017.

Love X Stereo was named Artist Of The Day on the 13th of June, 2017 in the UK's top newspaper, The Metro. Having recently returned from the UK, where the performed at the Focus Wales 2017 music festival in Wrexam before moving over to London for a few live gigs, they're still very much on the lips and in the hearts of UK fans, and still the talk of many media outlets.

With their new album, 37A which almost instantaneously reached number 2 on the Korean Music Charts, and their latest singles "Light And Dark" and "Rage Is Not Enough" still at the top of many charts, they are without doubt one of the hottest emerging bands of 2017.

Afton Prater at the Olalla Americana Music Festival 2017 - Tickets and dates

In the short 3 years spanning Afton Prater's astonishing independent music career so far, the award-winning singer, songwriter and role mode who began her journey as a teenager has already brought immense joy and reassurance to Washington's country music scene and is spreading it across the US progressively with every new release. 

Afton's organic and pure approach to the genre is bringing it back to life in ways popular acts like Taylor Swift have failed. Although all music tends to have a little Pop added nowadays for flavor, Afton seems to understand the importance of staying true to the origins of country music both in terms of its musical elements and lyrical content, and she doesn't stray very far while still managing to deliver a very upbeat sound. 

Right from her very first EP, "Stay With Me", which was released in December, 2014, Afton has been recognised and commended by top players in the industry and been watched closely. She has also received her fair share of attention from the press, radio and television, both online and offline.

She has performed at countless venues in and around Washington as well as featured at many of Washington's top music events and festivals, and  she continues to gig regularly, spreading the warm, organic cheer of real country music wherever it is needed and appreciated. 

Over the course of her career, she has had a good number successful singles that remain on the lips of fans as the years pass, including "Stay With Me" which featured on her debut EP, Forever With You - also from her debut EP,  "I Want A Truck" and more recently, "Old Soul" and "Hey Country Boy", just to name a few.

Her latest single, "Wild Fire" was released on the 4th of March. 

She recently confirmed amongst other upcoming live dates that she'll be performing at the Olalla Americana Music Festival in August, the best small-town country festival celebrating Americana Music - blues, bluegrass, country, folk, jazz and the roots, and highlighting some of the best artists and bands of the Pacific Northwest region of the US.

NEW WATERMARK HIGH EP ANNOUNCED

Hailing from Johannesburg, South Africa, Paul van der Walt, better known by his stage name, The Watermark High officially began his music career in July, 2013 when he released his "Murmurs" EP after 8 months of painstakingly honing his craft and creating a brand new electronic sound unique to only himself.

The EP featured 5 groundbreaking tracks that stood out and still stand out today owing to innovative production techniques and the finest attention to detail that made every single sound florish in all their glory in his crystal clear soundscapes.

Paul went on to release several EPs, each wowing fans more than the last and then finally on June 10, 2016 he released his debut album, which was self-titled and featured 10 of his best songs to date including the single, "Unalone" which was released prior to the album in May of 2016.

In January, 2017 many new Watermark High fans were shocked to discover Paul had introduced a new alias, "Kinoh" and had already released an EP under the alias back in 2015. The EP was titled "Arterial". He explained that the new alias allowed him to branch out and further explore the depths of his musical talents as well as showcase his creative flair in a whole new light. "Survive", his second EP under the new alias was released on the 24th of January, 2017 to critical acclaim, surpassing the success of any of his previous releases and receiving a lot of attention from the press and media, music industry insiders and critics alike who had nothing but good things to say.

Paul has now announced the completion of his latest work, an EP titled Everything Is Grey, which is scheduled for release on Bandcamp, Soundcloud and other popular music download websites on the 14th of July under the alias, The Watermark High.
