WHAT HAPPENED TO NEW YORK'S FAVORITE INDIE ACT?

It
was a damn shame to hear New York's favorite independent (indie) band,
and one of the most cherished independent music acts of this decade in
fact will soon seize to exist.
After
a string of successful independent music releases - from chart-topping
songs and singles like "The Way We're Weired" and "That Sort of Thing" to classic albums like
"The Noise War", their latest which was released
back in 2015, that brought so much joy and reassurance to real indie
music fans who prefer to keep well clear of overcommercialized music,
sold out concerts in and around New York and the US, festival
appearances and everything that comes with the territory of independent
rock superstardom, the quartet suddenly dropped of the map for a while.
They recently announced that they'll be
doing a bit of reshuffling and creating new music projects from the
existing one. But let's not despair yet, it could just be that we are
about to go from having just one amazing pop rock act to two.
According
to the band, lead singer and guitarist, Jon is working on a solo music
project and the rest of the members are working on a new band project
called Young Thieves, both projects scheduled to make their debut later
this year or early 2018.

CUTTING EDGE : DISCOVERING THE KEYMAKERS
If
you are an avid music discoverer and think you are on top of your game
but you haven't already had the priviledge of discovering this indie band everyone seems to be talking about, don't be alarmed. The Keymakers - a collaborative music project by
R&B singer, songwriter and music producer, Rome Alexander and his
brother, EDM producer, Redric was only recently born back in the summer
of 2017.
Having
dominated independently in their respective genres and home regions -
Rome in Pittsburg, USA, and Redric in Canada, The Keymakers were quick
to hit the sweet spots of independent pop and R&B fans globally with the release
of their official debut as a duo, "Good For You" back in September to
critical acclaim.
The
band was recently at the 2017 Holiday Parade in Pittsburgh where they
put on a showstopping performance and released their latest single,
"Flipside" on the 28th of November. The new song, "Flipside" is available to listen to/download on iTunes, Spotify and top digital music discovering/downloading apps and platforms.

RAGE REDEFINED
Discovering Illumesse
If
you've ever asked the question "What is Rage?", then you probably got an
answer that defined every aspect of Illumesse's complex, thorough, distinctive sound
perfectly.
Hailing from Argentina, the band,
which consists of two very talented and passionate brothers - Tomas and
Felipe Salguero, was formed in 2009. Originally beginning with a classic
rock sound, they evolved progressively to adopt harder styles along the
way. Formerly known as Malas Companias
(meaning "Bad Company" in English) the Spanish duo changed their name in
2014
after teaming up with the famous Argentinian producer, Alejandro Taranto
whose credits includes chart-topping bands like like Los Fabulosos
Cadillacs, Animal
and Hermetica, just to name a few. The band began recording their first
official EP at the award-winning studio, El Santito. After two years
in production, and new partnerships with Tommy Gun Records and Universal Music Publishing, the independent
band's EP was finally ready. Titled "Goodbye My Home", it was
officially released on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon mp3, and other top music, discovery and download apps on the 22nd of September, 2017 to critical acclaim.

"OMG, is chivaly really dead?"
Possibly.
Gone are the days when respectful, heart-warming R&B love songs by artists like Stevie Wonder, Mavin Gaye, Toni Braxton, Keith Sweat, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston and almost any song by artists/groups like Kci & Jojo and Boyz II Men made expressing our love to the guy or girl of our dreams so easy that simply making a mixtape with
the right songs in the right order was almost enough to win over their
heart, and possibly even get you both in the sack together for blissful
passionate moments that seemed to last forever. The songs were so
amazing that they even became somewhat instrumental in taking many a
love making session to the next level subconsciously, like some kind of
sonic viagra.
But that was then, when R&B and pop love songs
were all about love, respect, admiration, joy, sharing and positive
things, now they are about all sorts of things, some of which don't even
have anything to do with love at all. One example that could explain
the sort of lyrical content one could no longer expect not to hear in
today's love songs is a song by famous California rapper, 2pac, "Me And My Girl Friend".
It isn't a love song by design but it's one of the best examples that
comes to mind. It isn't about a girl as one would expect from the title
but rather, a gun. Hip hop seems to have changed everything, even beyond
the boundaries of the world of music, influencing artists' lyrics in
ways like never before. All of a sudden our baby making playlists sound
and feel like some depraved, sex maniac's fantasies releaved a little
too unashamedly for comfort and could send the lady/gent of your dreams
fleeing in disgust or even fearing for their safety.
When did we all become pimps and h*es? Nowadays, it seems to be quite rare to find a pop or R&B song
that's clean all the way through, or a song that doesn't make even the
slightest reference to something that makes the other feel like a
worthless object of debauchery, or like they are about to be violated in
ways they may not find appealing.
Old
school music lovers can't get away with the same old playlists for too
long anymore and millenials probably wouldn't know where to begin to get
theirs right, so we've put together a special 22 song playlist that is
fun, loving, kind, gentle, respectful and that celebrates your love and
your loved one in ways that'll make them want you even more. Wink wink

IDRISE AT THE 2017 MTV EMAS
"I'ma let you finish but em..."
After
winning the MTV Cover of the Month award back in June for his new song
at the time, "At My Best", a cover of rapper, Machine Gun Kelly's popular 2017 song,
and with his track record of European music awards nominations, not to
mention countless European music, MTV, iTunes and other chart
appearances, we thought Idrise had it in the bag when he was flown down
to London for the 2017 MTV EMAs as a nominee for Cover Song of the Year.
Spotted
with Lauren Black, another popular, fast-rising independent California
artist (in the center of the picture above) who he created the song
with, and a host of other world class independent and mainstream acts,
Idrise was looking stunning as always, was very pleasant and was a good
sport happy just to compete amongst the best (he was nothing like Kanye
back in 2009).
Just over 2 years since he relocated back to California, USA after multiple years in Frankfurt, Germany
as a US serviceman and chart-topping R&B music act, Idrise' career
is at an alltime high, more so than ever expected or ever before. After
years of dominating in the European music market independently and
sharing the stage with top R&B acts like Boyz II Men
and a host of others he decided he was ready to launch his career
internationally, and got straight down to business. After a good number
of critically acclaimed music releases over the past couple of years,
it's safe to say he's coming closer and closer to R&B superstardom
with every passing moment. Every single one of his releases strikes a
cause in R&B music fans both nationally and globally, and has music
industry insiders on the edge of their seats.
His
latest single, "Even" was released on the 16th of September, 2017 on

If
anyone knows how to intensify the build up to an album and get fans'
ears watering right up to the very second before its release, it's none
other than Canadian rock artist, Tara Kye. Tara has proven to be one of
the most hard working emerging artists in British Columbia,
and possibly in Canada as a whole even. Over the past 12 months alone
she has released close to 10 singles back to back almost every month.
She released a 6 track EP, "Tortured Love" in February, which treated
fans to her top releases prior to the EP, including the title track,
"Tortured Love" which was her latest single
at the time. Similarly, in August she released the single "Freedom
Rocks" shortly before announcing her new album "Freedom Rocks" which was
released on the 21st of August, 2017.
It's
been an exciting year for Tara's fans, and an even more exciting year
for Tara whose passion is to inspire and motivate the world through
music. She sprung onto Canada's rock scene with a distinctive,
captivating, organic rock sound that pays homage to the authentic sounds
of the genre whilst skillfully incorporating elements from other genres
without compromising its integrity with the help of Canadian musician,
John Dean, who taught her how to play the piano and has since worked with her on many of her songs.
Her
latest album demonstrates her growth as an artist over the past year
and features 10 songs including many of her previous hits. "Freedom
