THE VINYL GODS ARE LISTENING
Italian band,
Amycanbe's critically acclaimed album, "Wolf" released back in April,
2015 was one of the most highly revered and cherished independent music
releases of this decade and it is still being held very close to the
hearts of Cervian music fans and die-hard alternative music

DREAMS COME ALIVE - THE ROCUMENTARY
Influenced by chart-topping rock music acts like The Beatles,
Weezer and Oasis, Ian And The Dream was born in 2008 when lead singer,
Ian Ash and bassist, Chivo, two high school best friends decided to team
up and pursue their music dreams together after being active on their local music scene in separate projects for a while. Shortly after, competing

THE TRUTH ABOUT INDIE MUSIC IN 2017
When most music fans think about independent (indie) music
they generally tend to think of unsigned, upcoming, underground and
emerging musicians and bands struggling to make a name for themselves in
the tough and competitive world of music and entertainment, but independent music has changed over the years.
For
musicians, the thought of picking a juicy mainstream recording contract
over that of a small independent record label seems like a no-brainer
and when given the choice, many upcoming artists would be more than
happy to sit on the back-burner of a mainstream record label than sign
with a small indie label. Though many may not offer big advances, indie
labels are valued for their creative control, which allows them to
choose what music they produce and release, and some boast fairer music contracts
that allow artists to earn more percentages of revenue generated from
their music. They are also an invaluable stepping stone into the
professional world of music. As mainstream record labels move more and
more towards 360 contracts.
These are recording contracts that essentially entitle record labels to
a fair share of any or ALL (as specified in the contract) money an
artist/band makes after signing with them, and could include but are not
necessarily limited to merchandise sales, live events, sponsorships,
record sales, publishing and generally speaking, everything in-between
because as record sales drop more and more everyday record labels have
to find other ways to recoup money they've spent making their acts
popular
(which generally speaking would have been instrumental in making such
opportunities a reality
in the first place).
Over the years artists like Chance The Rapper, Joey Bada$$, Nipsey Hussle, and even popular, world reknowned chart-topping music acts like Adele and Macklemore have
all made their names in the world of music and entertainment
independently. It would be amazing to think they did it just by DIY music promotion and PR
methods like Tweeting, posting music videos on YouTube, advertising on
Facebook and simple promotional methods, which inspires immense joy,
admiration and motivation in music fans, some of the lucky ones may have even done so, but sadly, though they remain some of
the best starting points for new artists, it usually takes a lot more in
addition down the line to further careers.
Many
independent artists get signed to independent record labels or set up
their own labels at some point or the other in their career
however, as has been the case since the start of independent music back
in the 1980s when indie rock started to become just as popular as
mainstream rock, many independent labels can also get signed to
mainstream record labels and subsidiaries of mainstream record labels
for distribution, promotion and other benefits. In the recent era of
music when the "big 4" mainstream record labels of the world - Sony
Music, Warner Music Group, Universal Music Group and EMI became the "big
3" after the british conglomerate, EMI was purchased by Sony and
Universal, it became even more rampant for independent record labels to
merge with and secure the help of the mainstream.
Companies like AWAL formed in 1997 by Kobalt Music Group, which was the top independent music publisher
in the UK and second in the US in 2015 provide services that help
labels and artists manage their rights directly, distribute music and
also gain access to invaluable services within the music industry and
there has even been a rise in the number of similar companies providing
distribution and label services to indie artists and labels of recent
however, the
prospects of working with one of the "big 3" is still a very tempting
deal. It is now very common for once indie labels and even artists to
team up with mainstream labels owing to the current state of the world's
economy
and sadly there is no end in sight for the trend as businesses and
entrepreneurs struggle to meet the financial requirements of new
projects
and expand.
As
mainstream music becomes more and more watered down, primarily in terms
of content, with mass appeal in mind, fans are turning more and more to
indie music and going online to discover their own artists and bands to
follow and listen to, however, without the financial support of those
same fans, who are generally, like many music fans today, more tempted
by free music downloads than anything else, indie labels could eventually meet their demise and seize to exist. Though most
indie labels retain creative control while signed to major labels, it's
only a matter of time before the need to deliver bigger "hits" leads to
their artists creating less substancial pop releases for mass appeal in a
lot of cases or even surrendering everything and being absorbed by
mainstream labels. The fate of indie music lies in the hands of fans and
it's up to them to support their favorite indie acts financially by
downloading paid releases. Just as well, the fate of real music lies in
the hands of indie music fans and they need to start acting now in order
to keep it alive before all that remains is pop trash.

Bum Rush is an independently produced television series freely available on the web via YouTube.
The series began in 2016, directed by Jay-V Simmons and staring actors,
Dionicio Chambers, Lavon Collins and Jerry DiLeo. It is an urban crime story centered around friendship, love and money.
Rapper,
Saiah, famous for his critically acclaimed single, "VIP" released back in
2015, and who is also one of New York's most prolific and talented
upcoming actors, recently announced that he had secured a role in the
show's second season, which premiered on October 29 at NBA legend, Shaquille O'Neal's CityPlex 12 theatre in Newark, New Jersey, USA.
Bum
Rush is quickly becoming popular online and is expected to see record
numbers in season two. Saiah has already worked on a good number of high
profile and low profile productions and already has a sizeable
following of indie film fans as well as fan's of mainstream television, theatre and entertainment, which should also contribute to the show's popularity in the long run.
The series is released on YouTube and other popular video streaming platforms online where it can be watched free.

If
anyone knows how to intensify the build up to an album and get fans'
ears watering right up to the very second before its release, it's none
other than Canadian rock artist, Tara Kye. Tara has proven to be one of
the most hard working emerging artists in British Columbia,
and possibly in Canada as a whole even. Over the past 12 months alone
she has released close to 10 singles back to back almost every month.
She released a 6 track EP, "Tortured Love" in February, which treated
fans to her top releases prior to the EP, including the title track,
"Tortured Love" which was her latest single
at the time. Similarly, in August she released the single "Freedom
Rocks" shortly before announcing her new album "Freedom Rocks" which was
released on the 21st of August, 2017.
It's
been an exciting year for Tara's fans, and an even more exciting year
for Tara whose passion is to inspire and motivate the world through
music. She sprung onto Canada's rock scene with a distinctive,
captivating, organic rock sound that pays homage to the authentic sounds
of the genre whilst skillfully incorporating elements from other genres
without compromising its integrity with the help of Canadian musician,
John Dean, who taught her how to play the piano and has since worked with her on many of her songs.

latest album demonstrates her growth as an artist over the past year
